"Veggies & Pork"
Hand-painted by Chef Kerry Sear

Rooting around the Cascadia patio,
Summer 2007.

Move over, Babe. Don't get cocky, Wilbur. Not so fast, Miss Piggy. Seattle's pigs have returned and they're having a parade. Yep, to help celebrate the 100th birthday of the Pike Place Market, the Market Foundation is hosting Pigs on Parade 2007, and Cascadia is happily–hungrily?–sponsoring "Veggies & Pork," our very own porcine beauty.

Veggies & Pork

Born of the extra-culinary artistic talents of Chef Kerry Sear and covered with his hand-painted renderings of fruits, vegetables, fish, the occasional ladybug and more than a few surprises, Veggies & Pork is a true market pig. Which is fitting when you consider Kerry's highly popular Market Tours as well as the fact that much of what we serve in the restaurant comes from our daily trips to the market. Veggies & Pork is also a practical pig, coming complete with her very own recipe for six, which you can find on her, um, backside as well as here.

Veggies & Pork

On June 2, 2007, we're throwing on our chef's whites and aprons, and parading our pig along with all the others from Westlake Center to the Pike Place Market. During the weekend of June 2-3, you can meet Veggies & Pork and 100 or so of her siblings at the Pike Place Market Centennial Street Festival. After that, she'll return home to the Cascadia patio where she'll greet one and all through late September. On October 12, our dear little pig and the rest of her herd will be auctioned off with all proceeds to benefit the Market Foundation.
